Callbox or Bluedot?
Choose Callbox if
- you want each recording and its transcript in your own Google Drive, where they stay if you cancel
- you record more than 5 meetings and want a free plan that keeps recording
- you want your own AI agent to read, file and summarize calls through MCP, on every plan
- your team records and you want one plan to cover it, with members paying nothing
- you want calls filed by who was invited, not by words in the meeting title
Choose Bluedot if
- you record the Zoom, Teams or Slack desktop apps, or browse in Edge, Brave or Arc
- you want summaries, note templates and AI chat built in, with no agent to set up
- you want a bot for meetings you skip, or phone and Apple Watch apps
- you need HubSpot or Salesforce, SOC 2 Type II, or transcripts in over 100 languages
Is there a Bluedot alternative that saves to Google Drive?
Yes. Callbox saves each recording to your own Google Drive as an audio file and a Google Doc transcript, in a folder per project. They are ordinary Drive files that you open and share like any other, and Callbox sees only the files it creates.
Bluedot keeps recordings in its own cloud, on AWS and in the European Union by default, according to its security page and privacy policy. Its Google Drive integration only imports. In the words of its help center, "it is not possible to export data from Bluedot to Google Drive."[14][15][16]
Bluedot documents a workaround, a Zapier automation that writes transcript or summary text to Drive, but its help article says "your files can't include Bluedot-recordings." To get a recording out, you download it as a .webm file, and transcripts export as PDF or TXT.[28][12][29]
What happens to your recordings if you cancel Bluedot?
You lose access to them, and later Bluedot deletes them. Its pricing page and help center give you one month to restore the subscription before "your recordings will be permanently deleted," while its security page says data is removed 3 months after you stop using Bluedot. Either way, download your files before you cancel.[11][30][14]
If you delete a recording by accident, Bluedot's help center tells you to contact support, and deleting a collection deletes every recording inside it. In Callbox, recordings you delete wait in a trash for 30 days.[31][24]
Callbox files stay in your Drive whatever happens to your Callbox account. A downgrade, a cancellation or deleting the account removes nothing from Drive.
What does the Bluedot free plan include?
Bluedot Free records 5 meetings for the life of the account. Its home page calls this a lifetime trial, after which you "continue as a free member to view and share recordings." To keep recording you need a paid plan, from Basic at $14 a user a month billed yearly.[11][27]
Callbox Free puts no limit on recordings and saves each one to your Drive. It includes 5 hours of transcription a month, subject to availability, enough for six 45-minute calls. With your own speech-to-text key or OpenAI-compatible server, transcription has no limit, and the MCP server is included.
The two plans count different things. Bluedot counts meetings over the life of the account, and Callbox counts transcription hours each month. If you need only some of your calls transcribed, Callbox Free may be enough.
Does Bluedot join your calls with a bot?
Not by default. Bluedot's Chrome extension records from your computer, and its extension page says "nothing shows up in the participant list." It also offers an optional bot, scheduled through Google or Outlook Calendar, that joins Zoom and Google Meet calls as "[Your name]'s AI NoteTaker" and has to be admitted. Once admitted, it can record a meeting you skip, and it keeps recording when your laptop sleeps.[4][1][2][3][32]
Callbox has no bot. Its Chrome extension records the call playing in your tab, in Google Meet, Zoom in the browser, Microsoft Teams or any other site, plus your microphone. Nobody new joins, and Callbox records only the calls you attend.
Bluedot records in more places. Its Mac and Windows apps record the Zoom and Teams desktop apps and Slack huddles, its extension also runs in Edge, Brave and Arc, and it has iOS, Android and Apple Watch apps. Callbox records calls only in Chrome tabs, and records meetings in the room from its Record page in any phone or computer browser, with no app to install.[7][4][9][10]
Bluedot can also post an optional recording notice in the meeting chat, and workspace admins can make a consent message mandatory when members record with the extension. Callbox sends the other participants nothing, so telling them you record is up to you.[4][33]
Does Callbox write AI summaries like Bluedot?
No. Your own AI agent, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Grok or Cursor, reads the transcript through the Callbox MCP server, writes the summary with the model you choose and saves it as a note on the recording.
Bluedot writes summaries and action items for you, with 50 premade note templates, and on Pro you can write templates that run on Claude 4.6 Sonnet or GPT-5. It adds AI chat across recordings, follow-up emails drafted in Gmail and speaker insights such as talk ratio. If you want notes after every call with nothing to set up, Bluedot is simpler.[19][20][21][34][35]
Bluedot has an MCP server too, which its pricing page lists from the paid Basic plan, and it connects to Claude as a connector and to ChatGPT as a plugin. Its 8 tools all read data. Callbox's MCP server is on every plan, Free included, and its tools also write, so your agent can move a call to a project, rename it or add notes.[11][36][37][22]
How do Bluedot and Callbox work for a team?
Bluedot charges for each user who records, and Callbox charges only the team's owner. Bluedot's free members can view recordings and make up to five of their own. On Callbox the owner needs Pro or Business, any number of members join free, and the team shares the owner's monthly transcription hours.[11][26]
Bluedot's auto-sort rules file a call into a collection by keywords in the meeting title. Callbox files each call into a project by the email addresses of the people invited, read from Google Calendar if you turn it on, and calls that no rule matches land in an Inbox.[25][24]
Bluedot has more for sales teams and security reviews. Its Business plan adds CRM and ATS integrations such as HubSpot, Salesforce and Ashby, and its security page lists SOC 2 Type II and GDPR. Callbox claims no security certification. It connects your agent through MCP on every plan, and other tools through API keys and webhooks on paid plans.[11][38][14]

For one person who pays, Bluedot is cheaper. Bluedot Pro is $240 a year billed yearly against $290 for Callbox Pro, or $25 against $29 a month. For light use, Callbox Free costs nothing and keeps recording, while Bluedot Free ends after 5 meetings and Basic costs $168 a year for audio only. A team reverses this, because Bluedot bills every user who records. If five people all record on Bluedot Pro, they pay $1,200 a year, and ten pay $2,400, while one Callbox Pro plan at $290 covers the whole team. Bluedot viewers can stay free, and it quotes a flat company rate on request. That plan's 100 hours of transcription a month are shared, so a team that records more needs Business ($990 a year for 500 hours a month) or its own speech-to-text key, while Bluedot's paid plans list unlimited meetings.[11][26]
